Welcome to Grade 4! It's an exciting year as you wind up your academic career at Lake Garda School. I am so happy to meet you at our Meet & Greet. If you are unable to attend, your child will bring home our specials schedule, class list, and a parent questionnaire.
On the first day of school, don't forget a healthy snack and a water bottle with your name on it. The days can still be hot at this time of year. Also, bring an independent book to read.
In the first week or two of school, we will focus on learning and practicing procedures and routines. Treating each other with respect and kindness is the motto of our classroom.
Most of 4th grade is very similar to 3rd grade. The subjects of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies are continued with a more advanced level of academic achievement. We prepare our 4th graders for middle school with a greater emphasis on working independently.
Fourth graders have the option of participating in chorus and band. Chorus is offered in the first half of the year; band is offered after the winter holiday break. You will receive more information about both in the coming weeks.
Fourth graders are also responsible for the Flag Day ceremony which is held on June 14 (unless we have no snow days and our last day is prior to June 14).
It is a very fun year for our students! I am looking forward to working with your child and you as the year progresses!
Best regards,
Mrs. Kathy Wesolowski
